| The Wisconsin Badgers defeated UW-Whitewater this Saturday 53-50 to win the Midwest regional and advance to the Midwest Final Four. On October 27 in the Midwest Regional, UW-Madison lost to Illinois 25-36. Although the Badgers were up by 1 point with 5 minutes to go, Illinois tacked on a penalty kick and a late minute try to secure a victory. However, Illinois was disqualified shortly after for inappropriate on-field conduct. This weekend UW-Wisconsin faced UW-Whitewater in a challenge match to determine who would replace Illinois as the Midwest Regional Champion. The Badgers started firing on all cylinders, but Whitewater came back for a late first-half surge, and the half-time score was 29-22 Madison. Whitewater and the Badgers continued the shootout late into the second half, but with five minutes to go, Madison was down my two points. Ryan Walker finished the game strong by scoring the winning try with only two minutes left, and the Badgers won 53-50. The Midwest Final Four will be this Saturday and Sunday in Iowa Falls. UW-Madison will face Michigan in their first game. | |
