| The Wisconsin Badgers defeated UW-Whitewater this Saturday 53-50 to win the Midwest regional and advance to the Midwest Final Four. On October 27 in the Midwest Regional, UW-Madison lost to Illinois 25-36. Although the Badgers were up by 1 point with 5 minutes to go, Illinois tacked on a penalty kick and a late minute try to secure a victory. However, Illinois was disqualified shortly after for inappropriate on-field conduct. This weekend UW-Wisconsin faced UW-Whitewater in a challenge match to determine who would replace Illinois as the Midwest Regional Champion. The Badgers started firing on all cylinders, but Whitewater came back for a late first-half surge, and the half-time score was 29-22 Madison. Whitewater and the Badgers continued the shootout late into the second half, but with five minutes to go, Madison was down my two points. Ryan Walker finished the game strong by scoring the winning try with only two minutes left, and the Badgers won 53-50. The Midwest Final Four will be this Saturday and Sunday in Iowa Falls. UW-Madison will face Michigan in their first game. | |
| UW vs. MSOE match report | September 19, 2006 |
| On Saturday, September 16, the UW Rugby team started out the Wisconsin league play with a win against MSOE 40-0. The central message that was embraced was improvement, and the badgers did just that. After a disapointing loss to University of Illinois-Champaign, the badgers needed to improve both their lineouts and team communication. UW-Rugby rookie Zak Macejkovic was the badger's primary jumper and snagged many crucial lineouts out of MSOE's grasp. The team cohesion greatly increased, and there were less arguments and more foward/back interaction. Some things UW still needs to improve is rucking and maintaining possession. This has become the achille's heel of the badgers and hopefully our improving ways will continue against UW-Parkside. Gametime is scheduled for 11:00am this Saturday. We hope to see you all this saturday at our home opener. | |

A grillout will be take place on the sideline during the clinic, and food and drink will be provided. Following the Rugby Showcase, Madison and Minnesota will face off with gametime scheduled for 12:00p.m. The Badgers hope to continue their winning ways and extend their win streak to three games.
